 It was a Monster 1st Birthday!!!!    I was a new mommy in a new town and the grocery store was my socialization. Have you been there?  Where you go in and smile at everyone hoping you can have some adult conversation. I was at the bakery...probably going to eat my emotions and I saw this adorable monster cake!  I knew in that moment I had to have a monster party for my son's first birthday.  We had also picked up these cute ugly dolls in Seattle Washington and they added a fun touch on the mantle. I bundled some M&Ms in little bags as favors.  The universal small kid treat...am I right.  I folded scrapbook paper over the little jewelry bags.  I used pinking shears to make the teeth.  Google eyes and Voila! It was a Pirate Party! My son was turning two and we were seriously into Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  I am not usually a cartoon theme party mom, so we did a general pirate party instead.  I was so excited about this cute little pirate set I found and was grateful for the easy cake design.  My daughter had just been born and we had my family visiting from Illinois.  So this was not the most extravagant celebration.  Evan loved it though and the fun water games and toys outside meant easy entertainment for the littles. I had the most fun making the themed food for this party.  It was nice to be able to have the kids just run and play independently while the grown ups just sat, ate, and visited. This watermelon shark may have started the whole theme... Pistachio Fluff Roast Parrot! Hahahahaha...loved it. My sister made the best BINGO game for me and I had some fun little prizes for the winners. The Par...
