Shark Week Party
Of course we had to have a Shark Week Party! My kids are obsessed with all things ocean, just like their mama. So I of course went to Pinterest to get some ideas and had some of my own too.
The jam filled cupcakes and Shark Photo booth were definitely faves. We had art projects, science experiments, and fun facts galore.
I kept this one simple...My hubby was super excited that I pretty much had everything I needed and shopping was not necessary.
I used scrapbook paper to make a couple of banners.
I found the idea for Jam filled cupcakes, and knew they were a must!
At this point I was in a huge hurry, so not the prettiest cupcakes I have ever made, but they were yummy and the kids thought they were JAWsome.
Can you ever have too many favors? Not if they double as table decor. I found the Shark idea on Pinterest. I changed it up a bit to use what I had on hand. I had four cream paper cups. So I started by painting the outside gray-single coat very gestural. Then I cut away the open mouth. I used the two pieces to make the fins and painted their other sides gray. Then I painted the inside of the cup red. I added teeth with strips of computer paper. I filled its mouth with a snack size zip-lock full of gummy sharks and lots of Swedish Fish. Then added a cute tag using red and white string. (Thank you leftover X-mas wrap from last year.)
I visited the local candy store for an array of gummy candy to make the chum sticks. I stuck them on a skewer. This should have been super easy...NOT SO MUCH. Maybe try PAM. I should have. They got so sticky that a bunch tore! Very frustrating. I eventually won and got them on though. I used a quart zip lock to wrap them and cut the zip part off. Cute little tag and done.
Food was simple since it was just my kiddos and the cousins. I had Tortilla Soup (Shark Stew) for the adults and hot dogs for kids. Just a few sides for fun.
The recipe for Sand Pudding is on Pinterest!

Here are some action shots of the games and activities! I never use my good camera for those, I want to participate not observe.

Shark Photo Booth!!! I used a tri-fold project board. Cut a mouth out, painted a shark and water, added teeth, and then glued a red plastic table cloth to the back of the top for us to sit under. That way there is red behind us in the pictures. I got that sign hanging from the corner online. Just did a quick google search. I had it on the front door.
Hope this helps you plan your next Shark Week Party!!! Thanks for circling around.
